. . . With ALL your heart . . .

“ALL”: the whole of; EVERY; nothing but; WHOLLY; the whole number, quantity or amount; EVERYTHING; the whole of one’s resources . . .

I am challenged by the ‘ALL’ today – another small word with a BIG impact!

Am I seeking God with ALL my heart – the whole, every resource, NOTHING BUT?

If I’m to be honest, there are times when I get a bad case of the ‘buts.’  You know, those times where instead of pursuing Him with nothing but our hearts, we pursue Him with our many but God’s! . . .

“But God, what about the hurting parts of my heart?  The broken even?

“The LORD is close the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18

“But God, there are parts of my heart that are just too tired today to pursue you!”

“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” -Isaiah 40:29

“But God, there are dark ditches in my heart . . . shards of shame! . . . wedges of unworthiness!!

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

Yes, for every ‘but’ that bursts out of our hindered hearts, there is a more telling truth to be told!  We can choose to wallow in our weariness and not seek God whole heartedly, or we can wearily wade into God’s wisdom where He WILL whole heartedly make new our wastelands!!

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” -Ezekiel 36:26

Is there a part of your heart you’re withholding from God today?  Is your heart weary from all the ‘but God’s’ and needing to be restored to seeking Him with a ‘nothing but’ your heart attitude?  If so, will you walk into God’s wisdom with Him today so that you can begin again to seek Him with your whole heart?  He is there waiting for those closed doors in your heart to be opened to Him . . . to feed those weary parts of your heart with His truth!
